The annual EU Asia Commencement Ceremony was recently held in Kuala Lumpur, at the Dorsett Grand Subang. The elegant hotel was the ideal location for the celebratory ceremony. A total of 82 graduates from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Macau and Bangladesh were presented with their bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate diplomas by the President of EU, Dr. Dirk Craen. The event was officiated by the Director-General of Kota Kinabalu City Hall, Datuk Dr. Yeo Boon Hai, who was also presented with the EU Prince Fellow Award, in recognition of his continuous contributions to the development of EU Asia.
Offering an international education and global opportunities is paramount at EU. As Dr. Craen commented: “Expanding our program offered in Asia has been a priority for the past decade. This ceremony was another achievement for the students. They have accomplished their goal and we look forward to seeing what the 80 new graduates will do after graduating.” He also spoke words of wisdom, urging the graduates to listen more than speak and be more competitive in the global arena by being creators and innovators. In his speech, Dr. Craen also light-heartedly welcomed the graduates to the world of work and strongly urged them to be “doers”.
